From time to time, we would like to recognize some of the organizations that have helped us serve the Greater Fredericton community. Today we are proud to recognize our continued partnership with Jobs Unlimited. Jobs Unlimited is a not-for-profit organization that facilitates employment and volunteer opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. We reached out to Jobs Unlimited to share some of their thoughts on their work with us:
“All work has dignity. One great partner of Jobs Unlimited is the Fredericton Food Bank. The folks at the Fredericton Food Bank have been fantastic! They have opened their doors and graciously welcomed two of Jobs Unlimited’s clients.
Sean worked for 10 years at a local Pharmacy through Jobs Unlimited before deciding to move on to do something different. Sean enjoys his 2 days of volunteer work per week and has a variety of responsibilities. He works in the gardens in the summer months; some of his job duties are planting, weeding and watering of plants.
Henry was delighted when his volunteer application was accepted. He works 3 days a week and if needed, he is happy to lend a hand on a fourth day. Henry cuts old clothing into rags so they can be sold and shreds newspapers to be used in the compost for the gardens. Henry also works in the warehouse where he takes large bags of dog and cat food and breaks them down into smaller bags.
We are looking forward to a few more positions for our clients at the Food Bank once the weather improves and we wish to thank all the staff for the fantastic work that they are doing and for being a model employer and showcasing inclusion at the work place at its best.”
